Ever want to practice at a different dojo?

When was the last time you went to a morning class? Are you a morning student? How about visiting one of the evening classes? Different classes can be like visiting a new dojo without the travel. I have met students from the morning classes for the first time at Camp!

The week between Christmas and New Years many of us have some extra time off from our normal daily schedule. So, why not add an extra practice session with people you don't normally practice with and gain perspectives from teachers you don't normally get the chance to learn from? Let the invasion begin! :)

Happy and safe holidays!

...and don't forget the New Years Day class at 10AM.

Could there be some Darkside served up for breakfast on Monday? Only one way to find out....

What is Darkside?

Excellent question...
Darkside is a fun name for a collection of topics covered in advanced class settings. Topics include what happens when our techniques are applied off the mat. One of the biggest contributors to that difference is the lack of a soft pillow-y mat to cushion the impact of a throw. Also, a real attacker is not likely a trained uke that can fall safely, nor will they be expecting it. The same throw with the same force that we all bounce up off the mat from with a smile would be devastating on concrete or even a hard wood floor. We can't, in good conscious, send students into the world without that understanding and respect for the power of their techniques. Darkside is the safety instructions at the front of your table saw manual. (Yes guys it came with one, it's the book that showed you how to get the blade guard off)
